Spreading World Peace, One Cute Kid at a Time

Lauren de la Vergne and Olivia Van Arsdale work on a poster on Sept. 21 for International Peace Day.

St. Alcuin Montessori School has my number, and I’m not afraid to admit it. First they sent me photos of children in traditional Ukrainian garb, and now this press release about International Peace Day comes zooming into my inbox. For a returned Peace Corps Volunteer like myself, this was right on target.

Well played, St. Alcuin’s, well played.

St. Alcuin Students Celebrate International Peace Day

Lower Elementary Students at St. Alcuin Montessori School recently celebrated the “International Day of Peace” (Peace Day) on Sept. 21. The event provided an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date. The students read books and poems about peace. They also created peace doves, peace posters and slogans. To conclude their day, the children all wrote about what each of them can do now to make the world a more peaceful place.
