Sure, we’ll all likely have turkey on the table tomorrow. But beyond the favored bird, what’s your favorite holiday habit? Running in the Turkey Trot? Going shopping? Watching the Cowboys in a tryptophan coma?

  • Hillcrest Alum Earns All-Conference Nod

Former Hillcrest football and lacrosse standout Rob Look, a senior linebacker at Washington and Lee, recently earned a spot on the first team of the All-Old Dominion Conference team.

Look earned the conference’s sportsmanship award last season. He was a second-team all-conference pick as a sophomore.

The 2008 Hillcrest graduate completed his senior campaign tied for second in the conference with 95 total tackles. He was Conference Defensive Player of the Week twice this year. A starter in all 10 games, Look added eight tackles for loss (-27 yards), two sacks (-15 yards), and one interception. He completed his career with 254 tackles, five sacks and two interceptions.

  • Don’t Forget Your Good Neighbor(s)

We got an email about a missing (and much loved) dog today, so now’s as good a time as any, I think, to circle back and remind you of our Good Neighbor page.

Barring ads and story pitches — which we also like to see! — know this is a free, easy forum for the same calls-to-action you’d find on a local bulletin board.

    Pretend examples:

“Bureau Free to Anyone Who’ll Haul it Away”

    “Don’t Miss This Block Party.”

“Did You See The Kids Who Whacked my Mailbox?”

    “Missing Chinchilla; Answers to ‘Reginald’”

And so on. Now don’t be shy.

  • Another Reason to be Thankful

Greenhill students with their special friends and grandparents eating lunch.

Greenhill School welcomed grandparents and special friends to their campus Friday afternoon for activities, learning, and fun. In previous years, school was in session the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and Grandparents and Special Friends Day occurred on the Tuesday before the holiday. But to the students’ excitement this year, Greenhill is closed the entire week of Thanksgiving. Teachers taught normal classes Friday morning, and grandparents and special friends joined their students in the afternoon. Students and teachers alike rejoiced at the 3 p.m. early dismissal as well.
