What in The Hollow Are You Doing This Weekend?

This weekend is all about the kids event-wise, although I guess if you’re a parent, that would be every weekend for you. If you don’t have any definite plans yet, keep reading. All the events below are family friendly, and promise to be educational and fun.

The budding thespians at Hockaday will be performing their UIL One-Act plays at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. this evening.

Speaking of budding thespians, Parish Episcopal’s Upper-School students will perform Les Miserables tonight at 7 p.m. in their Black Box theater. The students will reprise their performances on Saturday at both 2 and 7 p.m.

Join Hockaday volunteers at 8 a.m. on Saturday to continue the building project they’re doing with Habitat for Humanity.

It’s time to get your groove on! NorthPark Center kicks off a day of dance at 11 a.m. in the North Court on Saturday. The event is an effort to stomp out cardiovascular disease and get the community up and active. Participants will be able to learn fun ways to improve their family’s health through health screenings and surveys while kids learn at a teddy-bear clinic. Four local dance troupes will perform, there will be face-painting, and Zoe the Clown will provide the laughs.

Keep reading for more weekend fun!

Also at NorthPark Center, the Rockin’ Railroad band will take your family on “an exciting new musical adventure where you and your child become passengers on the Rockin’ Railroad.” Learn about different instruments and musical genres at 2 p.m. in Bookmarks.

At 3 p.m. on Saturday, bring your kiddos out to the Preston-Royal Library where Alicia Colina-Ashby presents a special Library Live event featuring paper crafts. Learn how to create a variety of origami projects using repurposed materials.

If you’ve got Kids who like to kreate, bring them out to Bookmarks in NorthPark Center at noon on Sunday for Krafty Kids – a kool kraft time for kids of all ages.
