Hillcrest Students Vie for Millennium Scholarships
A college adviser with Hillcrest High School sends word that seniors Jennifer Orozco and Guadalupe Almazan are finalists in the Gates Millennium Scholars program.
“This is a huge accomplishment for these young ladies and Hillcrest High School,” writes Sara Miller, who recommended Jennifer and Lupe for the award. The finalist pool was culled from a group of 54,000 applicants, Miller says. In April, that number will be whittled down to 1,000 scholarship recipients around the country, with financial aid to be distributed according to each student’s needs.
