Preston Hollow Kids Dominate Journalism Contest

Our friends at The Dallas Morning News announced the winners of their annual High School Journalism Day & Competition yesterday. In Class B, which is for schools with fewer than 2,000 students, 17 of the 20 categories were won by schools that serve students from Preston Hollow. And in the key category, Best Newspaper, the neighborhood recorded a clean sweep. ESD’s Eagle Edition was the winner, and the honorable mentions went to The ReMarker (St. Mark’s), The Bulldog Print (Yavneh), The Fourcast (Hockaday), and the Hillcrest Hurricane. In addition, Hockaday’s Emily Wechsler was named Writer of the Year, and Jesuit’s Jack White was named Photographer of the Year. Those two honors are for Classes A and B combined. Pretty impressive stuff, for sure. It’s good to know that if we miss any stories at Preston Hollow People, the neighborhood is full of budding young watchdogs.
