Enter The Youth Poetry Competition Today

The Dallas Public Library is once again calling for submissions for the “Express Yourself!” Youth Poetry Competition now through Jan. 19, 2014. Students who live in/attend school in Dallas, from grades 2 through 12, are eligible to submit.

“We love to give the young people of Dallas this platform to encourage their self-expression,” director of libraries Jo Giudice said in a statement. “Every year we are awed by the creativity in the submissions we receive.”

In April, the finalists will be honored at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, and published in the anthology. But that’s a long way off, so for now, just work on perfecting those submissions.

If you’re an image person and not a word person, you’re invited to draw or paint a cover for that anthology. The winner will be on the cover, and the four finalists will be featured on the back cover. Here are the full guidelines.
