Troop 80 Eagle Scout candidate Jack Hamman of Preston Hollow led an effort to refurbish the Netherland Park pedestrian bridge this spring.

In total, 15 boys from several troops spent 140 man-hours over six work sessions to spruce up the 45-foot bridge over Browning Branch Creek. They scraped, sanded, primed, and painted the steel sides, and also cleared overgrown brush while installing a painted trashcan at the site. Neighbors and friends contributed the funds and supplies.

The 5-acre park near Pershing Elementary School also houses a wildflower preserve, two tennis courts, and a walking trail.
