T-Minus Three Days Til Moon Day

Thanks to the Frontiers of Flight Museum, you don’t have to visit a “galaxy far, far away” to experience the wonders of space exploration. Star gazers and space enthusiasts of all ages can now trek over to the family-fun activities scheduled Saturday for “Moon Day 2012.”
In 2009, Moon Day was created in Dallas by Frontiers of Flight Museum and the National Space Society of North Texas as an annual event to celebrate space exploration on or near the anniversary of the first moon landing. This year, Moon Day will commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the lunar landing, which took place when Apollo 11 touched the surface on July 20, 1969.
Festivities run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, 6911 Lemmon Ave. Cost is $5-8. Museum members and children 3 and under are free.

635 to Make Friday 13th a Real Life Nightmare

Shortly after moving to Dallas, I mused that the LBJ freeway was probably a mass social experiment on road rage, rather than an actual roadway meant to expedite travel. That was two years ago, and my experiences then pale in comparison to the congestion caused by ever-present construction these days.Well, it’s about to get a lot worse. As Northaven Park Neighborhood Association reports, major segments of construction are kicking off later tonight between Forest and Hillcrest.
Stay clear, people. It’s not worth it.

Cistercian and Ursuline Students Travel to Honduras
This summer marks the first that Cistercian Preparatory School students joined the Dallas Diocese youth missionary trip to Honduras. From June 9 to 18, nine Cistercian students and four faculty members accompanied others from Bishop Dunne, Bishop Lynch, John Paul II, and Ursuline Academy for the annual diocesan trip, contributing to the largest level of participation to date.
The diocesan program, led by deacon Charlie Stump, is a continuation of a decades long initiative with the Diocese of Trujillo, which, following the devastation of Hurricane Mitch in 1998, was adopted by the Dioceses of Texas.

Providence Students Celebrate Patriot Week

Matthew Harvey, Timmy Ngo, Rawley Schott, Ryan Messick, Sam Parker, Charlie Nowlin, and Patrick Pierce
It may not be the Fourth of July yet, but students at Providence Christian School started the national celebration early with Patriot Day on May 11. Students came dressed in character to participate in different periods of American history, which were represented in historically themed rooms. My favorite costume is a tie between the kid with a pipe and the one with a mustache. Way to go the extra mile, boys.
