Bad Week For SUVs at NorthPark

It’s an open secret that NorthPark Center isn’t the safest place to park your car. In a briefing before the City Council’s Public Safety Committee in November, it was the 10th most likely place in Dallas to have your car burglarized with 30 BMVs last year. I’m not sure where it ranks in terms of auto theft, but if the past week is any indication, you might want to park your SUV elsewhere. Since March 1, four SUVs have been reported stolen from NorthPark: a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe (or was that a Silverado? The report’s not very clear), a 2005 GMC Yukon, a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, and–the grandaddy of them all–a 2005 Cadillac Escalade valued at $46,000, which was later recovered, sans wheels. If the four-car thefts-per-week trend continues (which it won’t) there would be 208 car thefts a year at NorthPark.
