Lamplighter students hit the green at the KidSwing Golf Tournament June 6. Gavin Lambert, Griffin Buss, Will Clifford, and Ashton Hillman formed the “Mighty Fore” team which raised over $15 thousand, a quarter of the total money raised at the tournament.

KidSwing was launched in 2003 by a former Texas Scottish Rite Hospital patient who wanted to use his love of golf to give back to the hospital. Now, kids between the ages of seven and 15 can compete in the nine-hole fundraiser.

Lambert has participated in the event for three years and now serves on the planning committee for KidSwing by connecting with local businesses to gain sponsorship for the event. He also designed and sold bracelets to raise money for the second year in a row.

Lambert’s mother and president of the Lamplighter School’s Parents’ Association, Brenna Lambert, said the boys raised money through individual tasks as well as an impromptu lemonade stand.

“These students understand the importance of philanthropy,” said Dr. Joan Hill, head of the school. “We salute their hard work on behalf of Scottish Rite.”

Next year Gavin hopes to form a team in each grade level to represent Lamplighter. He plans to volunteer for the KidSwing tournament in Frisco July 18.
