Another $100 Gift Card is up For Grabs

We’ve already given away one $100 Gift Card to the newest location of Run On Dallas at Preston Road and Forest Lane, but we were keeping this one in our back pocket for a special occasion.
The store is celebrating its Grand Opening on Saturday with events spanning 11-hours. The fun kicks off at 7:30 a.m. with a social run and finishes with a happy hour of food and drinks from Snappy Salads, Tiff’s Treats, My Fit Foods and more from 3 to 6 p.m.
Would you like to add a free $100 shopping spree to the list of activities? Then simply be the first person to correctly answer the following trivia question in the comments section.
Q: When and where was the first organized marathon held? (Year and country, at minimum, are required)

If You’re Planning a Parade, Let Us Know
A reader emailed me to ask when and where the Preston Hollow Fourth of July parade starts. The only one I’ve received details about is the one that starts at 10 a.m. at Kramer Elementary School. It’s being hosted by the Hillcrest Forest Neighborhood Association and the Kramer PTA. Anyone know of any others?

Thieves Snatch Books, Hair Clippers, and Cuff Links
And I thought the theft of third row seats and side mirrors was odd. This week’s police blotter revealed a number of unusual items are appealing to criminal minds.
1. Stroller
2. Bathroom light fixture
3. Hardback books
4. Cuff links
5. Hair clippers
Can you guess which items fetched the highest and lowest value assessed by their owners? The answer and deets on each crime are after the jump. As always, for the skinny on the week’s lawbreaking, pick up a copy of Preston Hollow People.

Everyone is getting pretty excited about the decoration at Casa de Dirk, so we thought we’d keep the party going with a Dirk-themed give-away. You’re welcome, loyal reader.
Clearly after winning NBA Finals MVP, the next logical step is selling the movie rights to his life. Now the hard part, what should it be called? Leave your movie title in the comments section to win a pair of tickets to the Angelika. The winner will be announced Friday.

Interrupted Trash Service Angers Resident
Last week, we told you city sanitation services would operate on an adjusted schedule due to the snow. However, 75230 resident Rita Smith reports her garbage wasn’t picked up all week. She is now on a crusade to get $5.48 refunded from her monthly $21.92 sanitation bill.“We shouldn’t have to pay for a service we didn’t receive,” Smith said.
Was trash pick-up halted in other areas of PH? Are you as angry about it as Smith is?

Driveway Doubles as Training Track
The Coulter family knows how to make the most of a snow day. McKenna, a sixth-grader at Providence Christian School, takes a ride down the driveway on a trashcan lid as Taffy the faithful Lab trains for the Iditarod. Third-grader Michaela leads Taffy to the finish as brother William looks on.
And the secret of success? “They kept feeding Taffy treats to get her to drag McKenna,” said mom Juliette.
If we give out treats, will more people send in videos? I’m willing to try it.

Super Week is Upon Us
Well, it’s finally here. Super Bowl week has arrived in North Texas.
The media headquarters for the big game is the Sheraton in downtown Dallas. It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump from our lovely office.
I thought you’d like to check out this photo from outside the hotel. Pretty cool stuff.
