  • Winston Artwork to be Displayed at Samuel Lynne Galleries

Student artists from the Winston School are no strangers to having their artwork on display. But this venue will have a more professional feel than most. On Wednesday, Samuel Lynne Galleries will host a reception for Winston’s artists from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This event is open to students, families, and alumni of the school. However, those in the larger community can view the pieces on May 21 during a live painting performance by gallery artist JD Miller.

  • Have Lunch With a Side of Community Culture

Students from the Winston School have artwork on display at Zoe’s Kitchen in Preston Royal Village, and it’s not just for decoration. All the paintings are for sale and the $20 price tag will be donated to Winston. See anything that tickles your fancy?

  • Snow Day: Take Five

It’s not exactly the winter wonderland we had on Friday, but today’s ice and snow mix is enough to close DISD and area private schools for the fifth time in eight days. Several schools are dealing with the handful of missed days through web-based learning. Before there was even a snowflake on the ground, The Winston School already had its remote learning plan on the books. Hockaday drew one up earlier this week and is testing it out as I type.

Are any other area schools attempting to tackle assignments online? Is there anything you haven’t done in the previous four snow days that you are going to get accomplished today? Greenhill hosted a politically correct Snowperson Competition last week, how about a Sleetperson follow-up?
