Akiba is that school.  Whether your blank reads “get an extraordinary education,” “gain a deepened understanding of our Jewish heritage,” “develop moral character,” or simply “be loved,” Akiba answers the call for parents who seek a stellar Jewish educational experience for their child.

Grounded in a foundation that nourishes children with a balance of Torah, unparalleled education, and moral values, Akiba provides the best environment for open-minded Jewish families who want their children to become forward-thinking, engaged citizens of the world. • Dallas International School

Dallas International School educates students of all backgrounds to contribute to a dynamic world with its internationally renowned curriculum, multiple language instruction, and exposure to diverse cultural views. We prepare our students to earn the French Baccalaureate Diploma and the International Baccalaureate Diploma program, both of which assure admission into virtually any university in the world.

DIS has more than 525 students in preschool through grade 12, with the high school being located on the University of Texas at Dallas campus. DIS’ primary objective is to provide an excellent education based on a French-American educational structure. Starting at the age of three academic subjects are taught in French and English enabling children to achieve fluency in both languages. Spanish instruction is the third language taught at all grade levels and Chinese becomes a language choice at the 6th grade level. At the 9th grade level students choose between continuing their education taught in the French language, which leads ultimately to the French Baccalaureate Diploma, or starting the English high school section, where classes are taught in English, leading to the International Baccalaureate Diploma. At the 9th grade level, DIS is able to accept outside students into the International Baccalaureate high school section.

Our teachers are native speakers of their respective language. DIS accepts students regardless of race, religion, gender or nationality. Students receive a unique experience and understanding of cultural differences through the intermingling of the 25 different nationalities represented by the student population at DIS.

  • Oak Hill Academy

    T. Boone Pickens with Pam Quarterman, Oak Hill Academy Executive Director, and student Mackenzie Aduddel

Oak Hill Academy Celebrates a New Paradigm for Science
Plans Unveiled for the T. Boone Pickens Science Learning Center

The first science curriculum designed specifically for students with learning differences is being developed at Oak Hill Academy in collaboration with the University of Texas (UTD) Science Education Department. A natural correlation exists between the way students with learning differences gather information and the way science is best experienced: hands-on, experimental and sensorial. This will form the basis of an innovative curriculum created exclusively for children who learn differently.

Plans for the T. Boone Pickens Science Learning Center include:

    • Collaborate with UTD consultants and graduate students to create a Living Learning Lab, where innovative education strategies can be developed, tested and modeled.
    • Integrate technology to enhance the curriculum.
    • Renovate the school to accommodate classrooms, technology, lab equipment, as well curriculum specialist and graduate students.

Oak Hill Academy teachers have already begun training with Dr. Cynthia Ledbetter, Head of the Science/Mathematics Education Department at UTD. She and her graduate students will be instrumental in creating the new curriculum.

For more information about Oak Hill Academy and the Assessment Center at Oak Hill Academy, visit the website at www.oakhillacademy.org.
