In response to the talk Fifty Shades of Grey has sparked surrounding types of abuse, anti-domestic violence nonprofit Hope’s Door has partnered with Newstarter.com on a special fundraising project.

#50KFOR50SHADES asks the public to donate $1 each toward a $50,000 goal. That money will help support families impacted by domestic violence.

Here’s the kicker: donations are not collected until the goal mark is met, so donations are more important than ever.

“Domestic violence has been a hot topic in the media lately. As a result, we’ve seen an upsurge in public awareness and the calls to our crisis hotline have increased dramatically,” said Suzanne Bock, director of development at Hope’s Door. “The campaign is all or nothing. If we don’t hit the goal in 30 days … no money is collected.”
