Wounded Warriors Take on the NFL

The Wounded Warrior Amputee Football Team (WWAFT), led by Quarterback and former US Navy Officer Roger Staubach, took on the NFL Alumni of Texas Thursday, May 21 in a flag-football Game of Honor.

Sponsored by a host of donors including Humana and the Military Benefit Association, the game was held at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and attended by hundreds of fans, friends, family and even students from several schools in Dallas including the Jesuit and W.T. White High School football teams.

Humana and medical device company Zimmer donated a combined $350,000 to WWAFT at the game.

The WWAFT players are veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and play to demonstrate that the loss of a limb does not mean the end of an athletic career. Proceeds from the Game of Honor benefit the WWAFT, Debbie Lee’s America’s Mighty Warriors, Heroes-on-the-Water and Texas’ Disabled Veterans.
