Female Coonhound Puppy Found in 104-Degree Heat in Parking Lot
Seems a good neighbor has come across a lost pup. Says Marilyn Kapral, who includes her phone number below:She is exceptionally well-behaved, hardly barks, and is just plain loving and likes a good snuggle and lots of petting. She has lots of tickle spots, it seems.
Her only quirks are that she will chew cardboard and paper, and she sneaks off with clothes just to smell them with that bloodhound nose; she has never torn up any clothes, but she will go after shoes – found her more than once with her nose stuffed into them! As with some big dogs, she will take you hand or arm unto her mouth, but doesn’t bite; she is just looking for attention and wants to play; just gets a little slobbery.
And lastly, she apparently is used to sleeping in bed with someone and/or being on sofas, because she sure does like to try that. I’ve had to kick her out of my bed several times; seems to be her comfort spot. That, and laying in front of an air conditioner.
She does need steady access to a lot of water.
Marilyn Kapral
214-352-7897The little miss is spayed, about a year old, and weighs 54 pounds — though she’ll probably continue to fill out. Please give Marilyn a call if you know this dog or know of a good home.

SPCA Pets of the Week: Nash & Cookie
Hi there friends, his name is Nash, and he’s a fun-loving, playful, 5-year-old Greyhound mix. He has been at the SPCA of Texas since April 23 waiting for his new home. Nash is an active boy who loves toys, and of course with his long legs, running is one of his favorite activities. He is very smart and already crate-trained and house-trained. Sometimes when Nash is by himself for long periods of time, he tends to get bored and think up his own games, so he would really benefit from positive crate training and lots of toys to keep him occupied. He gets along great with other dogs, so if you have a playmate at home, be sure to bring him or her down to the shelter to meet Nash! He would be a great walking or jogging buddy, and he is ready and waiting to jog on out of here and into your home. I hope you come visit Nash soon! He’s also a V.I.P. (Very Important Pet) because he’s been waiting for his new, loving family for more than 30 days, and he has a special adoption price of $50!
Hi, this is Cookie, and she’s a very friendly 3-year-old girl. She is a 10-pound, black and white Domestic Short Hair mix with a long black tail and pretty green eyes. Her beautiful fur coat is so soft, you’ll want to pet her for hours. And that is fine by Cookie because she loves attention! She has been at the SPCA since April 28 when her owners moved and they brought her here with her best friend, Caige. They have lived together their whole lives, are extremely bonded, and would really love to be adopted together. Cookie and Caige get along together great and are often seen snuggling together in their kitty bed. If you have room in your heart and home for a pair of gorgeous, lovable kitties, they are just the pair for you! Cookie is very sweet, playful, and loves to jump on your lap. Caige and Cookie would love for you to see them!Nash and Cookie are waiting for you at the The SPCA of Texas’ Dealey Animal Care Center in Dallas at 362 S. Riverfront Blvd. (S. Industrial Blvd.) near downtown Dallas. Call 214-742-SPCA (7722) or visit www.spca.org.

SPCA Pets of the Week: Buddy & Pizza
Well, if you’re looking for a cuddle buddy, I think he’s the boy you’re after. His name is Buddy, and he’s a 3-year-old Chihuahua mix. Because of his own health problems, Buddy’s owner brought him to the SPCA of Texas on May 10, and he is sure hoping that someone comes along soon and gives him the forever home that he wants so much. Buddy has a really pretty black and tan coat, and while he knows that he is kind of a shy, quiet boy, it really doesn’t take much to bring Buddy out of his shell. Just a little coaxing and a lot of love, and he’ll settle in beside you and be the best Buddy you could ever want to have. So please down and meet Buddy today!
Is food the way to your heart? Well we don’t mean to be cheesy, but Pizza will purrr his way right into your heart! He’s a handsome, Domestic Medium Hair mix, and he is just over two years old. He weighs 9 pounds, so he is the perfect size to fit in your lap, or on the couch next to you. His coat is smooth and soft, and he has giant, beautiful, green eyes. Pizza was surrendered to the SPCA of Texas on April 29 due to the health of his owners, and unfortunately they couldn’t keep him. Don’t let his quiet disposition fool you, he is shy at first, but he’s a curious, playful and lap-loving kitty just waiting for the right owner to come find him.Buddy and Pizza are waiting for you at the The SPCA of Texas’ Dealey Animal Care Center in Dallas at 362 S. Riverfront Blvd. (S. Industrial Blvd.) near downtown Dallas. Call 214-742-SPCA (7722) or visit www.spca.org.

Possible Scam in Glen Meadow Estates
This just in from the Glen Meadow Estates Homeowners Association: An older man rang a doorbell early this morning on Cox Lane near Crown Shore Drive with a friendly golden retriever in tow. Although the dog appeared to belong to the man, he said it was “lost” and requested help. The homeowner felt the man was possibly trying to use the dog to see if anyone was around before committing burglary. A similar “lost dog” scam was reported in March, this time being perpetrated by a young woman and two male accomplices. The HOA attributed the March scam to three daytime home burglaries.
