Four Dallas runners are putting their money where their feet are — raising money for pediatric heart patients while running in the Napa Valley Marathon.

Sunday’s marathon in northern California will include Henda Salmeron, Trey Bayne, Steve Novak, and Zachary Porter. Each of them is competing to raise money and awareness for the local chapter of the HeartGift Foundation, a nonprofit that brings children from around the world to the United States to correct life-threatening heart defects.

The four athletes, all in their 40s, became acquainted through a weekly networking meeting known as Dallas Round Table and found they shared passions for running and philanthropy. Each has experience running marathons.

Salmeron is a broker with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. Bayne is a tax partner at The MB Group, Novak is managing partner at The Blum Firm, and Porter owns a commercial real-estate firm. Each of them pledged to sponsor at least one child’s surgery through the marathon.
