AUTO SERVICE

Sewell Automotive: Sewell believes that its superior customer service is what’s kept customers coming back over the years, although its smorgasbord of luxury cars can’t hurt. The company just celebrated its centennial.

LANDSCAPING

Lambert Landscape Co.: Brothers Joe and Henry Lambert left a successful landscape company in Shreveport, La., in 1935 to open one of Dallas’ first such firms. Almost 80 years later, the company continues to provide the same dedicated service to lawns all over the city.

TREE SERVICE

Preservation Tree Services: The people at Preservation Tree Services recommend that you call them if “your trees are in need of a Heimlich maneuver,” saying their staff is “happy to provide just the CPR that your trees need.”

GARDEN SHOP

Nicholson-Hardie: Offering everything from the usual baskets and candles to more exotic gifts such as handmade pottery from Italy, there’s something for just about everyone at this shop.

PET SERVICES

Park Cities Pet Salon: The friendly groomers at Park Cities Pet Salon use specialty shampoos and tools to ensure that your pets always put their best paw forward. We like the Furminator Treatment, a three-step service that will help reduce shedding and leave your dog with a super-glossy coat.

VETERINARY HOSPITAL

Highland Park Animal Hospital: This full-service medical, dental, and surgical facility has been providing pets with quality comprehensive care since 1964.

WOMEN’S CLOTHING

Nordstrom: The multi-level department store is every design enthusiast’s dream, with enough shoes, handbags, and clothes to keep serious shopaholics satisfied for hours on end. And when stiletto-ed feet finally begin to grow weary, the bistro and spa allow you to revive and refresh.

BOUTIQUE

The Impeccable Pig: Offering pieces that are as comfortable as they are cute, this boutique is a one-stop shop for your boho fashion needs.

CONSIGNMENT CLOTHING

Clotheshorse Anonymous: This is not your grandmother’s resale shop — unless your Granny’s closet included Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, etc. The massive collection of carefully edited pieces is a fashionista’s dream.

JEWELRY

Bachendorf’s: This family business has provided Dallas’ elite with the finest jewelry for more than 60 years. Whatever you choose, you’re sure to dazzle.

SHOES

DSW: With heavy-hitters such as Badgley Mischka, Givenchy, and Jimmy Choo on the racks, DSW will have you wondering how you ever paid full retail.

DRY CLEANER

Bibbentuckers: Aside from dry cleaning, there’s also a full menu of garment and accessory repair, alterations, restorations, and archival wedding dress storage. To top it all off, the company uses only environmentally safe processes.

YOGA STUDIO

Uptown Yoga: What sets Uptown Yoga apart? Maybe it’s the quiet, light-filled studio or the gentle, fun-loving instructors, or the wide variety of vinyasa classes. The 10 days-for-$10 deal gives new students the option of trying as many classes as desired to find a perfect balance.

HEALTH/WELLNESS

Whole Foods Market: It’s hard to believe that everyone’s favorite natural foods store started just three decades ago in Austin with a staff of only 19 people. From these humble beginnings, however, the company has cornered a sizeable part of the natural foods market (and our pantries).

SPA

The Spa at The Crescent: The spa at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel features an assortment of body services designed to pamper and polish you into pretty perfection.

MANICURE/PEDICURE

Hollywood Nails & Spa: Sink into the cushy chairs at Hollywood Nails and Spa and relax while experienced technicians give you some celebrity-style treatment.

HAIR SALON

Osgood-O’Neil: The stylists work magic with their shears, delivering sleek, trendy cuts and colors to a variety of hair types and textures.

BARBER

Grooming Room at Culwell & Son: The Grooming Room is staffed with stylists who will carefully cut and comb your coif, recommend the best products, and even arrange for your shoes to be shined while you wait. Appointments aren’t required, but they are recommended since the shop can fill up quickly.

TEETH WHITENING

Park Cities Dental Group: PCDG has been brightening smiles around the city since 1982. Offering several different whitening treatments — such as Zoom, Opalescence, and Brite Smile, a long-lasting at-home treatment — the friendly dentists ensure that you have plenty of ways to keep your pearly whites shining bright.

MEDICAL SPA

Aqua Medical Spa: Aqua offers both non-surgical and surgical services. Whether you just need to relax with a massage or a facial or are looking for a more permanent solution like Botox or a facelift, this spa has got you covered.

CATERING

The Festive Kitchen: Priding itself on offering “recognizable gourmet,” the Festive Kitchen caters events ranging from weddings to presidential functions. All of the delicacies are handmade from scratch and presented in arrangements as artful as they are tasty.

WEDDING & PARTY PLANNING

Todd Events: Whether you’re planning a destination wedding or a birthday party, Todd Fiscus and his team are the ones to call for the job. For more than 20 years, he’s produced stylish soirées that leave people talking for months — if not years — to come.

Wine & Spirits

Goody Goody Liquor: Although there are many liquor stores throughout the city, few can match Goody Goody in selection and price. From exotic imports to locally produced craft beers, everything that you could possibly want to drink is sold here, usually at prices that significantly beat competitors.

GROCERY STORE

Central Market: This Austin transplant has been in Dallas for only about a decade, but it has rapidly become the go-to marketplace for Dallasites looking for a different grocery experience. Not only does Central Market carry the freshest produce, meats, cheeses, and breads, it also offers a wide variety of novelty foods, beloved by foodies and non-foodies alike.

BIKE SHOP

Bicycles Plus: It probably goes without saying, but the folks at Bicycles Plus are really serious about cycling. This store offers everything you could possibly need (or didn’t even know you needed!) to have the safest wheels in town.

BOOK STORE

Barnes & Noble: There’s a reason why Barnes & Noble is America’s leading retailer of content. With a vast selection of books, movies, and music, it’s virtually impossible to not find something that piques your interest.

TOYS

Learning Express: What sets Learning Express apart from other toy retailers is its big selection of unique toys that are educational yet so fun that kids won’t even realize they’re learning. From “candy chemistry” kits to do-it-yourself electric plane launchers, the gifts you find here inspire creativity.

GIFT SHOP

St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange (5 Highland Park Village):  This “retail ministry” is run almost exclusively by more than 100 volunteers who serve in the roles of buyers, cashiers, and gift wrappers. But this isn’t a church-basement thrift store — the highly curated gifts range from simple stationery to ornate home decor.

HOME FURNISHINGS

Design Within Reach: A perfect addition to the area’s antique dealers, art galleries, and specialty boutiques, the loft-style space on McKinney has a wide-open floor plan and an industrial feel that perfectly mirrors the sleek and simple products sold there. From lighting and rugs to bedding and bookcases, DWR has everything you need to complete any interior space.

ANTIQUES

Lovers Lane Antique Market: You might not be able to jet over to Europe the next time you’re redecorating, but luckily for you, Lovers Lane Antique Market is here to help. For two decades, the shop has been bringing the very best in antiques from France, Italy, England, New England, and the Texas Hill Country to Dallas. With 35 dealers housed in one space, you’re bound to find a treasure.
