ESD and St. Mark’s will renew their lacrosse rivalry in the semifinals of the Texas High School Lacrosse League state tournament on Saturday in Round Rock.

The two schools have been fixtures at the state tournament over the years in addition to their annual SPC battles. In fact, the Eagles defeated St. Mark’s 10-2 three weeks ago for their fifth straight SPC title — including three in a row over the Lions.

ESD (14-2) was the THSLL state runner-up a year ago and will make its sixth consecutive appearance, while St. Mark’s (9-6) is returning to state for the first time since 2013 — when the Lions topped ESD in the championship game.

However, the Eagles have won all nine meetings in the five years since then. In their regular-season meeting this year, ESD won 10-9 at St. Mark’s on April 6.

The winner of Saturday’s matchup will meet either Highland Park or The Woodlands in the championship game on Sunday.
