News Flash: Spieth is Good at Baseball, Too

Jordan Spieth has already shown us how awesome he is at golf, after capping one of the most impressive major-tournament campaigns in history with a runner-up finish in the PGA Championship on Sunday in Wisconsin.

So perhaps the only thing left for the Preston Hollow resident and former Jesuit standout to prove, at the age of 22, is that he’s awesome at other sports as well. On Tuesday, he took advantage of the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Rangers-Mariners game in Arlington by making it a perfect left-handed strike. In fairness, he did have some experience, after previously throwing out the first pitch at a Rangers game in April 2013.

We also can declare Spieth the winner of a friendly wager with fellow PGA Tour champion Zach Johnson, who threw out the first pitch at the Chicago Cubs game on Tuesday. The loser had to send a check for $5,000 to the winner’s foundation. Sounds like a home run either way.
