Youth Tourney Looks to Crown Chess Kings

Rooks, knights, and bishops will rule the day at the Fit for a King youth chess tournament on Saturday at ESD.

The event is open to all students in kindergarten through high school, who will be divided by age group and play five games each, lasting no more than an hour.

The tournament, which is being operated by the renowned collegiate chess program at UT-Dallas, will include students from ESD, Greenhill, Lakehill, Lamplighter, Our Redeemer, Preston Hollow Presbyterian, St. Mark’s, St. Monica, Story Elementary School, Trinity Christian, and Wesley Prep, among others.

Registration starts at 8 a.m., with the first moves made at 9 a.m. Trophies go to the top four teams and individuals in each section. Cost is $30 in advance or $40 at the door, and you can sign-up here.
