W.T. White Alum at Center of Secret Service Scandal
It’s safe to say David Chaney probably won’t be at his 30 year reunion this year.
The 1982 W.T. White alum is currently wrapped up in the Secret Service prostitution scandal. By “wrapped up” I mean he probably hired some prostitutes in Colombia, while waiting for President Obama to arrive.
Putting that DISD education to good work.

What in The Hollow Are You Doing This Weekend?
I love a good lunchtime activity, and today’s is one of the best options I’ve seen in awhile. Good Shepherd Episcopal School is having a fourth-grade chili cook-off at 12:30 p.m., so support your child/nephew/neighbor, and get a dose of Texas grub at the same time. Win-win.After your meal has settled, head over to W.T. White for Dance Explosion at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and the show promises to having something for everyone with routines ranging from classic to hip-hop.
On Saturday, improve your body and your mind with Yoga of 12 Step Recovery at Unity Dallas from 1 to 3 p.m. The leader, Julie Wright, recommends bringing comfortable clothes, and an open heart and mind.
Sunday has a schmorgesborg of offerings, including the Congregation Shearith Israel’s Lag B’Omer carnival at noon. If you’re looking for quieter entertainment, get your copy of Zitface signed by author and University Park resident Emily Howse at the Lincoln Park Barnes & Noble.

W.T. White Prepares For Dance Explosion
If you’re a fan of So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Got Talent, Dancing With The Stars, or any rendition of the rumba, W.T. White has just the show for you.
For the third-straight year, dancers will dazzle audiences with routines that have one thing none of the above dance shows can offer: reality without television. Hip-hop, jazz, ballet, and everything in between is fair game in this live show in the school’s auditorium at 4505 Ridgeside Drive. Tickets for Dance Explosion are $5. The explosion begins at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

W.T. White Choir Wins Coveted Awards
The last time the Longhorn Choir brought home two sweepstakes awards at UIL competition, its singers were wearing bell bottoms. Both the Girls Varsity Choir and the Mixed Choir won top honors April 9 for the first time since the ’70s. W.T. White was the only comprehensive Dallas school to win a sweepstakes award. Jesuit, W.T. White, and Thomas Jefferson All Starred in Super Bowl Halftime Show

The Jesuit Rangerettes were one of several local drill teams to perform during halftime at Super Bowl XLV.
When the Super Bowl came to Cowboys Stadium, Jerry Jones wasn’t the only Preston Hollow resident to benefit. The Jesuit Rangerettes, comprised of 40 Ursuline Academy students, along with the W.T. White Caballeras and the drill team at Thomas Jefferson, performed with the Black Eyed Peas during halftime at Super Bowl XLV.
According to Rangerettes spokeswoman Lori Karol, the girls practiced with other drill teams from North Texas at “secret locations” leading up to the Super Bowl and at Cowboys Stadium two days before the big game. As an added bonus, they were able to meet the Black Eyed Peas during a dress rehearsal. Security was tight throughout the process, and no pictures were allowed on the field. For more photos outside the stadium, jump with me. Read More…

W.T. White Starts Informal Carpool
With temperatures in the teens and wind chills reaching single digits, a walk to the bus stop is pretty miserable, especially for those Texas born-and-bred. Although the cold temps seem to be on their merry way out, W.T. White isn’t taking any chances. The PTA has asked parents and teachers to drive past certain DART bus stops with long walks and offer students rides to their next pick-up point.
Since the DART stop at Welch was removed last year, students must walk to and from stops at Midway/Harvest Hill or Willow/Inwood. PTA member Beth Weller asks that all friendly chauffeurs have a W.T. White sticker displayed on their car so students know the connection. She also recommends that students travel in groups for safety. So go ahead kids, get in the car with strangers. Just as long as they are W.T. White-supporting strangers.
