Race Through Pages This Summer

hplsummerWhat better way to celebrate the first day of summer than to jump into your reading list and win prizes for it? It’s not too late to register for Highland Park Library’s summer reading club through July 29.

Children of all ages are encouraged to keep track of the books they read and to participate in weekly events like watching Guinness World Records holding juggler David Slick in Prather Park July 8. Other events include crafts, a mock Olympics, and guest speakers from the police and fire departments.

Check in after five books to receive a free Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus ticket voucher to use at one of their shows throughout August.

Friends of the Highland Park Library will also be funding a book donation for under-resourced schools. For every child that completes the summer reading program a book will be donated to Reading Partners, a nonprofit organization that works to support students reading below their grade level.

After 10 books, children can turn in their reading log for a certificate.

Register online at www.hplibrary.info or in person at the library.
