HPISD Dedicates Center

I just got back from the official dedication of Highland Park ISD’s new Multi-Purpose Activities Center.

It was a nice 30-minute ceremony featuring several guest speakers. I thought it was a really nice touch for men’s athletic director Randy Allen to thank all of the parents in the HP Sports Club, which donated $1 million to the project, whose kids will never get to use the center because they are already out of school.

Funny moment, too. With the fans not running, presumably because they would have been too loud, it was pretty warm in the center. But they cranked up about 45 seconds after the ceremony was over.

The open house for the center is from 4:30-6 this afternoon. The Scots will battle Rockwall in their District 10-4A football opener at 7:30 at Highlander Stadium.

Is the activity center air conditioned? My daughter has practiced in there and she said it is like a sauna and the team would much rather be outside.
