Who Needs an iPod When You Have Bagpipes?

The football team is used to being supported by the Highlander Band. But I wonder how often the cross country team competes with musical accompaniment. Staff photographer Chris McGathey captured this shot of bagpiper Jack Deichert serenading the Scots during the district meet in Wylie this morning.

We had a piper play at a regatta for crew – aye, verra nice. Three cheers for the families of pipers! Do you know what they go through while their kid goes through the learning process? Like stomping a bag of cats until you get the hang of it.

To see a great story on bagpipers, google piper Bill Millin. Piper Millin passed away 2-3 months ago.

Jack, you are one awesome kid. I think all related sports events need your attention and please feel free to play the bagpipes for all SCOTS teams, alone if necessary. Make an effort for it will follow you for a lifetime.!!!!
