There are more carnivals and shows this weekend than you can shake a Rangers bat at. So take a break from all the baseball hoopla, and check out these local events. Start your weekend off right by doing some good. The Shelton School is having a blood drive from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is not known whether the nurses will be dressed as vampires, but wouldn’t that be festive? After that, you can either take your pick of carnivals, (ESD and St. Alcuin are each hosting one at 3:30 p.m.), or head to the Hillcrest Homecoming parade at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, enjoy the musical stylings of Texas Voices, a 24-member chamber choir, performing at 6:30 p.m. at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. Although Hockaday has showings all weekend, I recommend catching the Sunday matinee of Oliver, 2 p.m.
Full Disclosure: The Rangers schedule may have played a small (large) part in my selections.
