Dear Lifelong Parkie

Lifelong Parkie, I thought about responding to your comments but I figured, nah, I’ll save that for the newspaper. Since you don’t read my column anymore I thought I’d give you a heads up, buy a November 12 issue. This one’s for you, Baby.

What did Lifelong Parkie say?

Lifelong Parkie @ October 29, 2010 at 5:30 pm

Merritt is there some reason, you as a transplant to our wonderful city, are so incredibly disrespectful to our Mayor? Is it something he said or did?
If this is so aweful a place to live, move somewhere else. I thought for a while your columns were somehwat humorous, i don’t bother to read them anymore because they are repugnant to the people who built this community.
Before I realized the identity of Lifelong Parkie, I had this image stuck in my head.

I remember that comment and I often wonder if there is a manual for being “from” anywhere. I think it is more a state of mind. I hope everyone stays kind on this one.

I think there are few things more pathetic than a “lifelong” anything. How sad it must be to never experience any variety in residence, views, political opinions, or anything else.

Well, there is some “merritt” to lifelongparkie’s assertion. Park Cities was once a tight community made up mostly of conservative Texans with a lifestyle that was purposely maintained in so many ways. It has been overrun by yankees that put Obama signs in their front yards and say that our ways are “backwards”. Waaah.
Can’t wait for all the haters to respond to this.

    LMW,

I see a compound filled with “like minded people” in some rural location in your future.

As a sidenote to the bullying post below, I once confronted the parent of a bully. Her response? “I’ll have you know I’ve lived here my entire life!” Not really sure how that is relevant, but I guess that “lifelongparkie” thing prohibits “outsiders” from confronting the parents of bullies! LOL! And although I wasn’t born here, I’ve been in the Park Cities for about 30 years!!

    @ Steve,
Graduated from HPHS, didn’t go to UT or SMU, politics lean a little liberal. So where do I stand?

Mainzer, I think most would say you stand tall as someone who knows the community well, and who bring refreshing ideas and another political dynamic to table.

That is hilarious. NF, it would hard to kiss ass any more blatantly than that. Oh, you’re killing me… too funny.

The biggest revelation in this post is that Merritt is finally writing columns again! Back-to-back weeks even! We’ve missed the irreverence.

@N.F., Why so silent on the thread about the Davis email/letter that you somehow had access to see?

Matt, I am in total agreement with you. When I hear someone say that they’ve lived here their entire lives, I feel sorry for them.

They are so proud of this non-achievement, it’s baffling to the rest of us who have had the pleasure of experiencing life outside of the Park Cities. This is a terrific place to live for many reasons, but it’s not perfect, and in the end, pretty limited in supplying assortment or variety of any kind.

I remember this post from this “parkie” suggesting that Merritt move somewhere else, and I think Merritt hit the nail on the head!! From my limited experience with her (we have children that attend the same school, and that’s the extent of our commonality in her mind), she is a self righteous, judgmental person who “thinks” she knows everything, and I believe she will read this, and she deserves to know there are people who don’t care for her particular type of nasty no matter her address! It’s like “GET REAL already”. Thanks for putting “that” it it’s proper place.

There’s a book called “The Sociopath Next Door” that comes to mind when I hear about lifetime parkie.
