Winning Ticket Sold at Parkit Market

According to a news release from the Texas Lottery Commission, one of the two winning Mega Millions tickets sold last Friday was purchased at the Parkit Market on Upper Greenville. (The other was sold in San Antonio.)

Parkit Market customer Stella Taylor bought her tickets at 9:45 p.m. — just 15 minutes before sales closed for the day. Yesterday, she claimed a prize of $1,002,400.

I wondered how much Parkit Market would get as a bonus, but Lottery Commission spokeswoman Leticia Vásquez just explained to me that the store will get nada. Retailer bonuses are only for base prizes of $1 million more. Taylor’s base prize was $250,000, but she “megaplied” that up to a million through the Mega Ball feature. (The additional $2,400 was a result of Taylor purchasing several tickets.)

So she won twice? I don’t play the lottery more than a couple times a year, but winning $2400 is pretty salty in addition to the $1mm.
