Rise and Shine, Park Cities (6-8-11)

DJ and author Victoria Snee will sign her new book at Stephanie Anne tomorrow.

1. Northway Christian Church is hosting a free screening of Yojiro Takita’s Departures, which won the 2008 Oscar for best foreign film. The subject matter — an unemployed cellist who takes a job preparing the dead for burial — is presented in a beautiful manner with an equally good soundtrack.

2. Want to watch something more light-hearted? Do you happen to be a fan of Oscar Wilde? If so, head over to the Angelika tomorrow at 7 p.m. for a special screening of what may well be the famous playwright’s best work: The Importance of Being Earnest. The flick starts at 7 p.m.

3. Perhaps you’re more interested in beauty secrets? Hey, we’ve all got our hobbies, but Mix 102.9 DJ Victoria Snee has taken her obsession with beauty products to a whole new level. Snee, who penned The Beauty Buzz: No More Beauty B.S.!, will sign her tome at Stephanie Anne in Highland Park Village tomorrow at 11 a.m. Add in some wine and hors d’oeuvres and we’ve got a party, people.
