Hockaday, St. Mark’s Claim SPC Titles

Hockaday and St. Mark’s combined to win three Southwest Preparatory Conference championships last weekend.

The Lions won swimming and soccer championships, while the Daisies also won soccer.

St. Mark’s repeated as SPC champions in soccer with a 3-1 victory over Houston Kinkaid in the Division I championship. The Lions have advanced to the SPC finals each of the last four years. Kareem Itani had a goal and an assist for St. Mark’s.

Meanwhile, the Daisies notched a 1-0 victory over cross-town rival Greenhill in the Division I final. Mimi Asom scored the only goal of the game.

In swimming, St. Mark’s beat second-place Irving Cistercian, 180-80, while setting meet records in all three relays. Freshman Caleb Crowe won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. The Lions have now won five straight SPC titles and 17 in 19 years. Greenhill finished second in the girls championships.
