The man who started Highland Park’s wrestling program, Tim Marzuola, will coach the Scots again.

Marzuola was will replace Tony Warren, who left his post after being named Class 4A Coach of the Year at the state tournament.

Marzuola, who has spent the last six years coaching at Summerville (S.C.) High School, was at Highland Park for 25 years during his first tenure. He was named the 2005 Texas Coach of the Year and was inducted into the Texas Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2004.

“We are excited about Coach Marzuola’s return to HPHS to lead our wrestling program,” principal Walter Kelly said. “He is well respected in the wrestling community for his knowledge of the sport, and he has great history with our teachers, parents, and former students as a developer of student-athletes as leaders. Coach Marzuola is described by his colleagues as a dedicated teacher and a caring coach.”

Marzuola and his wife Tina have four children who are all Highland Park graduates.

“Tina and I are very excited to be coming back to the land of the Scots and look forward to renewing old friendships and making new ones,” Marzuola said. “As the say in the movies, ‘There’s no place like home.'”
