Father’s Day is on Sunday, and if you don’t have plans for dad yet, we’ve got plenty of options. Man of Steel just happens to open this weekend, so why not take the Superman in your life to a viewing?
The JCC is hosting a kids open mic show for senior adults at 11 a.m. this morning. If you’ve got a budding superstar, sign up here to secure a five-minute performance slot.
As I mentioned here, The Shops at Park Lane will show a free, family-friendly movie every Friday this month, in the park across from Bowl & Barrel. Tonight’s film, The Lorax, begins at 8:30 p.m. Popcorn will be available for $1 per bag, with soft drinks and more adult snacks (think real food, beer, and wine) provided by Gordon Biersch.
Keep reading for more weekend fun!
AMC NorthPark 15 is showing Man of Steel more than 60 times this weekend, so there should definitely be a time that fits into dad’s schedule. Lots of stores are having special sales in honor of daddy-o, so if you didn’t get a gift (for shame!), you can pick something up pre- or post-movie.
At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, in Bookmarks in NorthPark Center, Ms. Lilia will present a special Spanish storytime. Also on Saturday, the Disney Store is presenting an event that sounds very, very,
fun frightening — “Scare Approaches 101.” Presented by “The School of Scaring” a.k.a. “Monsters University,” the school’s dean, Abigail Hardscrabble, will coach your little monsters in scaring tactics, and they’ll get some pretty cool souvenirs, too. The classes are at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., as well as 2:30 p.m., but they’re limited to 30 students per session, so you might want to arrive a bit early to secure a spot. Mr. Puppet will bring lots of puppets and laughs to North Court at 3 p.m.
