Buster Cooper, the influential tap-dancing legend who we profiled in the March issue of Preston Hollow People, died on Tuesday. He was 90.

Cooper was a fixture on the local dance scene for more than a generation, teaching at Hockaday for more than 30 years. The Arkansas native taught for more than 70 years total, with several of his pupils launching careers on Broadway or as instructors themselves.

He taught adult tap classes at Preston Center Dance until a few weeks ago, where Cooper had the passion and energy of a man half his age. Plus, he had some really cool shoes. Here is the obituary from The Dallas Morning News.
