A new season of “Survivor” starts tomorrow night on CBS, and while I’m not one to endorse anything in the reality TV realm, it’s worth mentioning that a mother-daughter tandem of contestants has local ties.

Missy Payne, 47, is a competitive cheerleading coach who lives in Preston Hollow and will appear on the show alongside her daughter, Baylor Wilson, 20, a musician who lives in Nashville.

The duo will have a chance to claim a $1 million grand prize by winning the pre-taped show in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. You’ll have to watch to find out their tribal affiliation, and other such matters.

At any rate, one of the other castaways this season is John Rocker, the former pitcher for the Rangers and other MLB teams who attracted controversy during his career. At least it makes for good television.
