Lady Scots Will Meet Irving in Playoffs

UPDATE: Highland Park and Irving will play their bi-district game at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Grand Prairie High School.

Even as it lost its final regular-season game on Tuesday, Highland Park scored a key victory heading into the playoffs.

The Lady Scots (19-10, 11-3) fell to District 10-6A champion Richardson 66-50. However, HP still finished in sole possession of second place because Mesquite Horn upset Lake Highlands.

The difference between the second and third seeds in the district could be significant in this case because the 10-6A teams will meet District 9-6A in the first round. That district features perennial powers Skyline and Irving MacArthur at the top, but nobody else has a winning overall record.

As a result, the Lady Scots will play Irving (12-13, 9-3) in the bi-district round of their 6A postseason debut next week at a time and site to be determined. We’ll provide updates on the specifics when we get them.
