Dieb Gets Fourth at State Wrestling Meet

Highland Park junior Stephen Dieb narrowly missed a medal at the Class 6A state wrestling meet on Saturday in Garland.

Dieb lost to eventual silver medalist Kawika Crown of Klein Collins in the quarterfinals of the 145-pound weight class, but sailed through the consolation bracket with three straight wins, including one by fall in just four seconds against George Haskins of Lewisville. However, Dieb — who won a 4A state title last year — lost a 5-2 decision to Dylanger Potter of Arlington Martin in the third-place match.

Also for the Scots, Michael Thornton went 2-2 in his four matches at 195 pounds, falling in the quarterfinals and in his second consolation match.
