Skulduggery of the week: It’s Not Right

Between 5 and 6 p.m., a vandal caused $500 in damage to a green 1999 Lexus LX470 at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Lomo Alto Drive. The owner of the Lexus was moving into an apartment and parked next to an elevator at the complex, although not in a designated space. An elderly neighbor drove into the garage in a black Chevrolet SUV, saw the parking job, and said, “It’s not right.” When the Lexus owner returned an hour later, they found a utility cart had been thrown on the hood, causing several dents and scratches. The following day, the same elderly man asked the family that owned the Lexus “if they were the ones who moved in yesterday.”

HIGHLAND PARK

20 MONDAY
Between 5:45 p.m. on April 19 and 6:45 a.m. on April 20, a thief entered an unlocked tan 2013 GMC Yukon behind an iron security gate in the 4600 block of Fairfax Avenue and stole a wallet containing $100 in cash. The larcenist also took five credit or debit cards and used them all before they were reported stolen. The owner of the Yukon also found a Sam’s Club card inside his vehicle that belonged to a neighbor whose unlocked gray 2010 Honda Pilot was ransacked during the same time frame. A thief also entered a third unlocked vehicle, a 2014 Lexus SUV, behind a security gate in the same block and stole a $300 purse containing $200 worth of gift cards and a credit card that was subsequently used twice.

21 TUESDAY
Between 9:30 p.m. on April 20 and 8 a.m. on April 21, a thief entered an unlocked Volkswagen coupe in the 4600 block of Fairfax Avenue and stole an iPod.

22 WEDNESDAY
Between April 17 and April 22, a thief stole a 2.3-carat platinum solitaire engagement ring from the master bedroom of a house in the 4300 block of Beverly Drive. An Internet repairman did some work in the bedroom during the time frame in which the ring went missing.

25 SATURDAY
Between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., a shoplifter stole two porcelain flowers, valued at $4,100, from the Emily Summers store atHighland Park Village.

UNIVERSITY PARK

20 MONDAY
At 7:45 p.m., Theodore Lovett Johnson, 21, of University Park was arrested in the 3000 block of Rosedale Avenue on charges of assault and interfering with an emergency call.

21 TUESDAY
Between 8:45 p.m. on April 20 and 3:30 p.m. on April 21, a burglar broke into a black 2014 Cadillac Escalade in the 3000 block of Amherst Street and stole a third-row seat, valued at $4,000.

22 WEDNESDAY
At 8:14 p.m., Christopher Edward Brassard, 42, of University Park was arrested in the 2800 block of Amherst Street on a charge of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.

23 THURSDAY
Between 4:30 p.m. on April 22 and 7:45 a.m. on April 23, a thief entered an unlocked black 2009 Mercedes sedan in the 3200 block of Rosedale Avenue and stole more than $3,000 worth of golf equipment, more than $1,000 worth of baseball equipment, $30 worth of iPhone accessories, and $12 worth of cosmetics, among other things.
