HPHS Sample Tests Positive For West Nile

Fight Bite MosquitoA mosquito sample tested positive for West Nile virus at Highland Park High School this week, meaning the city of University Park will fog the area around the campus starting at 11 p.m. Thursday night.

Highlander Stadium will host two HPHS freshman football games that evening, and the district will provide insect repellent at each stadium gate for fans. But HPISD officials also recommend applying repellent before coming to the games, for precautionary reasons.

None of this will affect the scheduling or playing of athletic events, including the Scots’ home opener in varsity football on Friday night against Pulaski Academy.

UPDATE: City parks, all other HPISD campuses, and the SMU campus will be fogged beginning at 11 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6.
