First responders from the University Park Police Department and University Park Fire Department turned on their flashing lights and held a moment of silence at 11 a.m. today to support and remember Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth, who was slain at a Houston gas station earlier this week.

Goforth’s funeral was today, which prompted Gov. Greg Abbott to encourage the show of solidarity from emergency personnel throughout the state. UP also is flying its flags at half-staff at all parks and city buildings today.
