As with most blockbuster attractions these days, Highland Park and Jesuit will stage a sequel to their baseball playoff series from a year ago.

The rivals separated by only about six miles along the Dallas North Tollway will renew their rivalry in the Class 6A Region II quarterfinals this weekend.

The best-of-three series will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Highland Park, and will shift to Jesuit for Game 2 at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A third game, if necessary, is slated for noon Saturday in Prosper.

Both squads are 4-1 thus far in the playoffs. The Scots (29-6) swept Rowlett in a pair of close games in the area round — including a 17-inning marathon in the opener — while the Rangers (29-6) stumbled in their series opener against Belton before rallying for a series win.

Last season, Jesuit swept HP on its way to its first appearance in the Class 6A state tournament.
