The ESD girls soccer team will try for its fourth consecutive SPC championship this weekend in Houston, where the Eagles will be the top seed.

ESD was undefeated in conference play during the regular season and shut out all but one of its opponents. Among those trying to dethrone the Eagles are second-seeded Hockaday and third seed Greenhill, which fell to ESD 4-3 in the regular-season finale.

This weekend’s winter meet — which runs Thursday through Saturday — also will award SPC crowns in boys soccer, basketball, swimming, and wrestling. In swimming, the defending champions are St. Mark’s (boys) and Hockaday (girls).

In basketball, Greenhill will carry momentum into the tournament after finishing second in the North division standings for both boys and girls during the regular season.
