Junior League of Dallas to Host Volunteer Fair
Calling all volunteers – or those looking to lend a hand.
The Junior League of Dallas and presenting sponsor, Children’s Health, are offering the Dallas community a chance to connect with several nonprofits.
Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, attendees will be able to sign up for volunteer commitments at the league’s annual community volunteer fair at NorthPark Center. The fair is free and open to the public.
Children can participate in the Kids in the Kitchen activities, which include face painting, martial arts, and a kids yoga demonstration thanks to sponsors United Healthcare and The Moody Foundation.
The demonstrations will take place near Mark di Suvero’s monumentally extraordinary 48-foot-tall, 12-ton Ad Astra, 2005, which fills the two-story NorthCourt in NorthPark Center. Kids in the Kitchen is a Signature Project of the JLD, encouraging youth to learn the groundwork of healthy meals and educating them and their parents regarding the importance of a well-balanced diet and healthy lifestyle choices.
Prior to the event, the JLD, along with presenting sponsor Bank of Texas, will award grants to 39 nonprofit agencies supported by its 2018-2019 Community Program in Green House Market in NorthPark Center. The presentation begins at 9 a.m.
Each of the recipient agencies falls into one of the JLD’s six “Issue Areas” including, Arts and Cultural Enrichment; Education; Family Preservation; Health; Poverty Intervention; and Violence Intervention.
