SKULLDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: A SPECIFIC SET OF SKILLS

Thieves are getting smarter. At 11:43 a.m. on Jan. 12 in the parking lot of Fast Frames on Preston Road, a purse left in a parked vehicle was targeted. It took the owner a while to realize she had been stolen from, however, because the thief left the purse and took only the credit cards. No damage had been done to the vehicle, either.

DALLAS

7 Monday

Reported at 11:36 a.m.: someone sent a series of text messages threatening to “destroy” a resident in the 6000 block of Royal Lane.

A truck was stolen sometime before 5:25 p.m. from the 4000 block of Harvest Hill Road.

A parked vehicle was broken into sometime before 5:36 p.m. at the 5000 block of Deloache Avenue. 

A firearm was discharged by an unknown person around 5:45 p.m. at the 4000 block of Beechwood Lane. The home in question was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported.

8 Tuesday

Arrested at 12:01: an 18-year-old man, stopped in the alley in the 6000 block of Waggoner Drive and accused of stealing a handgun.

The Arthur Murray Dance Studio at the 6000 block of Lyndon B. Johnson was broken into at 3:30 a.m. No items were reported stolen, but the burglars did make a mess in the studio.

An unlocked vehicle at the 6000 block of Pemberton Drive was burglarized sometime before 7:34 a.m.

Property was taken from the 6000 block of Norway Road from an unknown suspect sometime before 8:23 a.m.

Stolen at 2:33 p.m.: a wallet from a vehicle parked at Northaven United Methodist Church at the 11000 block of Preston Road.

A license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked at HZ Auto Sales in the 11000 block of Inwood Road sometime before 3:54 p.m.

Shoplifters took merchandise from the Ulta at Inwood Village sometime before 4 p.m. by unknown suspects.

A burglar used the garage door opener, taken from an unlocked car, to enter the garage of a house in the 6000 block of Belmead Drive and take property.

9 Wednesday

Property was stolen from a vehicle parked at the 5000 block of Royal Crest Drive sometime before 5 a.m.

Someone broke into a vehicle at the 4000 block of Melissa Lane and stole property around 10:29 a.m.

10 Thursday

A vehicle was stolen around 12:18 a.m. at the 4000 block of Cedarbrush Drive.

A vehicle’s window was broken at the 3000 block of Northwest Highway around 12:14 p.m. and property was removed from inside.

Arrested around 9:30 p.m.: a 57-year-old man accused of  driving under the influence in the 8000 block of Lemmon Avenue.

A hit-and-run occurred at 10:30 p.m. at the 12000 block of Tavel Avenue. The victim reported that his parked vehicle had been struck, and the perpetrator fled without leaving any information. 

11 Friday

A suspect, facing multiple warrants from the the Mesquite Police Department, was arrested in the 5600 block of Harvest Hill Road around 12:42 p.m.

12 Saturday

A group of burglars – five, to be exact – broke into Dougherty’s Pharmacy on Royal Lane at 4:20 a.m. No identification was made on the burglars.

Stolen at 10:39 a.m.: all four tires and new rims from a vehicle parked at the 8000 block of Thackery Street

Stolen at 1:51 p.m.: a vehicle from the Tom Thumb parking lot at the 7000 block of Inwood Road.

A vehicle was broken into sometime before 3:42 p.m. at the 5000 block of Lovers Lane.

An unknown suspect made charges to a victim’s credit card at 4:04 p.m. at the 6000 block of Aberdeen Avenue.

13 Sunday

A 40-year-old intoxicated man was arrested at at 8:15 p.m.  in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 10000 block of High Hallows Drive.

A woman reported before midnight that she was receiving harassing text messages at the 6000 block of Northwest Highway.

Sometime before midnight, a burglar broke into Roam Fine Goods at the 6000 block of Royal Lane put stolen items in a bag and left.
