The Davey O’Brien High School Scholarship Award is presented each year to an exceptional senior student-athlete in the North Texas area. The five finalists were announced yesterday, and two of them are from Preston Hollow schools:

Elizabeth Crowling, Hillcrest High School

In addition to serving as team captain of the cross country and swim teams, the AP Scholar with Distinction and All-State Academic Swimmer has been named to the “A” honor roll every year. Elizabeth is a member of the National Honor Society and Academic Success Program, and she volunteers at the local animal shelter. She also played in the marching band and was appointed the alto-saxophone section leader by her band director during her junior year. In June 2011, Elizabeth explored her interest in medicine by interning at the UT Southwestern Medical Center. She continues to take part in their Biomedical Research Program researching pancreatic proteins.

Anna Hansell, Episcopal School of Dallas

The National Merit Semifinalist and AP Scholar with Honor is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the National Honor Society, ESD Student Council, Ambassadors Club and World Affairs Club. She is a tri-sport varsity athlete in field hockey, soccer and lacrosse, and was named All-SPC in field hockey.
